Postville Review, Fri., 10 May 1912.
Miss Christine Hodnefield was born on December 20, 1861, in Stavanger, Norway. She came to America in 1871, where her mother died in 1873 and her father in 1877. Miss Christine Hodnefield and Dr. Charles Henry Flynn were married at Mason City, Iowa, Sept. 4, 1884. To them were born eleven children, five of whom are dead. She was a true, devoted wife to Dr. Flynn. Together they toiled, planned and hoped, sharing the battles of life in a mutual helpfulness, until death called her on April 29th. They number their friends by the hundred, who sympathize and mourn with the bereaved husband and children.
Mrs. Flynn was a loyal, faithful christian, having been a member of the Norwegian Lutheran church since early youth. She was a member of the Postville Monday Club and of the State Federation of Clubs, also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Postville Chapter, and of the State Organization of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The funeral was conducted by Revs. Kuehne and Childress at 9 a.m. last Thursday in the M.E. church and the body was taken to Decorah for interment.
