Lester (Whitey) Hanson, age 78, of 3604 Custer St., Manitowoc, died Saturday morning, January 22, 1994, at the Manitowoc County Health Care Center. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 25, 1994, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Ronald Reimer with burial at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

He was born December 10, 1915 in Waukon, Iowa, son of the late Albert and Selma Thompson Hanson. He married the former Helen R. O'Donnell on October 29, 1936, in Waukon, Iowa. Mr. Hanson began his career as a ship fitter with the Manitowoc Shipyards in January of 1942. He continued his career as a truck driver with Schneider International and Miller High Life. He then returned to the Manitowoc shipyards until the 1970's and was employed with the Iron Workers Local #8.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Hanson, Manitowoc; two sons, Lyle Hanson, Indianapolis, Ind., Ronald Hanson, Manitowoc; a daughter and son-in-law, Betty and William Eisch, Mauston, Wis.; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great great grandson; other relatives and friends also survive. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Themert; a daughter-in-law, Pam Hanson; two grandsons, Kevin and Robert Hanson and a great grandson, Andrew Riebe. Friends may call at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, from 4-8 P.M. this Monday, TODAY, where a prayer service will be held at 7 P.M. by Deacon Bill Klein.
