Floyd Dean Knuppe, 73 of New Albin, died from heart disease Sunday, Aug. 31, 1997 at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin, with Fr. Eugene Kutsch officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery, with military graveside rites by the New Albin veterans. Friends may call at the New Albin Funeral Chapel Wednesday, Sept. 3 from 4 to 8 p.m., and there will be a 7 p.m. scripture service. floyd was born June 10, 1924 in Des Moines to Ethel Renne. He attended the Waukon schools. After schooling he worked on his grandparents' farm in Dubuque until joining the Navy on Jan 9, 1942. On Nov 19, 1945, after his discharge from the Navy, he began work in construction. In 1948 Floyd married Dorthy O'Donnell in Manitowoc, WI., and lived in Manitowoc for four years until he got a job at Carr Atco Door & Sash Co. in Dubuque, where he worked for eight years. In 1958 Floyd began working for the Dubuque Fire Department until he was injured in 1963. He then retired. On May 22, 1971, he married Virginia Waters at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, IA. Floyd was a member of the New Albin VFW Post and St. Joseph's Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Virginia; a daughter, Rose Marie Puccio of Dubuque; a brother, donald (Shirley) Renne of East Dubuque, IL., one granddaughter, Barbie Joe (Kyle) Smith of Dubuque; three grandsons, David, Dean, and Donald Puccio, all of Dubuque; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Gerald. Martin Funeral Home, Waucon, is in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers are Brian Stollemwerk, Jeff Stollenwerk, Dennis Garin, Dennis Pottratz, Tim Waters and Ron Hanson. Honorary casket bearers are Jason Waters, Jamie Waters, Peggy Woodbeck, Tracy Waters, Scott Waters, Justin Hanson and Vicki Mudderman.
