Howard Meyer, 68, of New Albin died Sunday, Dec. 28, in St. Francis Medical Center, La Crosse. He was born June 28, 1912 in Houston county to Otto and Louise (Gade) Meyer. He married Edna Gade on November 30, 1938. They farmed in Iowa township until 1954. He then worked for the Allamakee Co. Highway Dept. until 1974, when he retired.

Survivors are his wife; four sons, Duane of Onalaska, Wis., Leroy and Orville, both of North Prairie, Wis., and Fritz of Waukesha, Wis.; one daughter, Alice Mae of New Albin; 11 grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Lloyd (Florence) Davis and Mrs. Irene Fischer, both of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Kenny (Elizabeth) Boyer of Des Moines.

Services were held on Wednesday, December 31, at 11 a.m. in St; Peter’s United Church of Christ, New Albin. The Rev. Richard Waters officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Casketbearers were Lester Meyer, Harold Meyer, Roy Wuennecke, Elmer Heitman, Wilbert Gade and Lawrence Gade. Honorary pallbearers were Norbert Schulte, Calvin Beardmore, Herbert Schwenker and Arnold Westendorf.

The Potter-Haugen funeral home of Caledonia was in charge of arrangements.
