Lansing Native Passes Away in South Dakota
Kathryn E. Bohrer Sires, 80, a former resident of Lansing, Iowa, passed away on November 14, 1983 at Hill City, South Dakota.
She was born March 2, 1903 at Lansing, the daughter of Eva Duffy Bohrer and Frank J. Bohrer, longtime residents of Lansing.
She was graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1920 and taught in county schools for a few years.
She married Jerome Sires of Dorchester in 1924, moved to Chicago and then to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where her husband was in business. They retired in 1965 to Venice, Florida and Hill City, South Dakota.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; one daughter, Naomi Strabbing of Fort , Wayne, Indiana; and one son, Tom Sires of Hill City, South Dakota; her sister, Isabel Bohrer, of Venice, Florida; and cousins Norbert O’Donnell of Chicago and Bishop Cletus O’Donnell of Madison, Wis. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Bohrer.
Mass of Christian Burial was said at Saint Rose of Lima Catholic Church on November 17, 1983, and interment was at Hill City, South Dakota.
