Postville Review, Sat., 7 Nov. 1896. (condensed).

John Dundee was born in Mercer Co., Penn., Feb. 8, 1832, and died Oct. 31, 1896. He came with his parents to Wis. in 1846, and from there to Iowa in 1852, where he has since resided. He was married to Miss Alsina Hastings in 1857. He has nine children living: Melvin L, John H., Henry M. Orrin C., Mary T., Nora R., Ruth A., Martha V. and William G.; a sister and a brother.

Mr. Dundee came to his death accidentally. He was hunting and had run a squirrel up a hollow tree. He got an ax to chop the tree down and tried to get his dog to watch for the squirrel when the tree fell, but the falling tree excited the dog so that it paid no attention. Mr. Dundee, aggravated with the dog picked his gun up by the muzzle and struck at the dog, the gun discharging and striking Mr. Dundee in the abdomen, killing him.

His wife and children mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father.
