Ex-New Albin Man’s Body Found in the Mississippi
DUBUQUE, Iowa — No foul play is suspected in the death of a former New Albin resident whose body was found here Wednesday morning in the Mississippi River.
Dead is Clark Dennis Aschom, 27, who had moved to Dubuque, May 6. He had not been seen since May 9.
An autopsy » was ordered Wednesday and results have not been released. However, Dubuque police said there was no evidence of foul play.
Aschom’s body was found by a young man walking in the Ice Harbor area in the south part of Dubuque. The area is used to dock commercial boats.
Aschom was born Aug. 6, 1951, in Waukon, to Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Aschom Sr. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1972 to 1975.
Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Catherine Aschom of New Albin; three brothers, Norbert Jr. of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Richard of Hanover Park, Ill., and Michael of New Albin; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Kathleen) Keenan of Oconomowoc, Wis., Mrs. Roger (Susan) Ekem of Rushford, Minn., and Mrs. Randy (Julie) Sickles of Lansing.
His father preceded him in death.
Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Lansing, with the Rev. Carl Mantemach officiating.
Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, with military rites at the graveside.
Friends may call at the New Albin Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Friends also may call at the Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, Friday after 2 p.m., where a wake Scripture service will be at 7:30 p.m.

Rites for Clark Aschom
Funeral services were held on Saturday, May 19, at Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing for Clark Aschom, whose body was found in the Mississippi River at Dubuque on May 16.
Authorities said there was no evidence of foul play in Aschom’s death.
He was born on August 6, 1951, in Waukon to Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Aschom, Sr. He was a graduate of St. George High School and he served in the Army from 1972 until 1975.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Catherine Aschom, of New Albin; three brothers, Norbert, Jr. of Prairie du Chien, Wis., Richard of Hanover Park, Ill., and Michael of New Albin; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas (Kathleen) Keenan of Oconomowoc, Wisc., Mrs. Roger (Susan) Ekern of Rushford, Minn., and Mrs. Randy (Julie) Sickles of Lansing.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John, in 1959, and by his father in 1971.
Rev. Carl Manternach officiated at the services, with burial in Gethsemane Cemetery. Military rites were conducted at graveside.
Pallbearers were Tom and Ron Garrett, Don Moore, Jim Darling, Tim O’Malley and Bob Wellendorf.
The Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
