Postville Herald, Thur., 8 June 1922.

The sad news has been received of the death of Mrs. Mae Clough of Merryland, Alta., Canada. Mrs. Clough will be remembered as a former Postville woman, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs Brown McWilliams, among the early settlers of this locality, both of whom passed away a number of years ago.

Mrs Clough was born in Grand Meadow township, Clayton county, Iowa, August 24, 1864, and passed away May 26, 1922.

She has been a widow for the past few years and has raised her large family alone, and has been a faithful and loving mother all the way through, and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She passed through many hardships in life, but bore her burdens without complaining. She was a member of the Congregational church, having united with the church at Postville a number of years ago and has always been an active member in all christian work.

She leaves to mourn her loss five sons and two daughters - Lorton Clough, of Bakersfield, Colo.; Lester Clough , Saskatoon, Sask.; Verle, Guy and Elmer Clough of Merryland, Alta.; Mrs. L. A. McPherson of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Gordon Efflect of Merryland, Atla. Also four brothers and one sister - Mrs. Fred Thoma of Postville; Virgil, Carey and Emmett McWilliams, all of Chester, Iowa; and George McWilliams of Ashland, Oregon: all of whom have the sympathy of many friends in their loss.
