Emily Walker was born at Millville, Iowa, July 29, 1842. She was married to Joseph Riley in 1866 at Prairie du Chien, Wis., and to this union four children were born - Hattie, who passed away some years ago; Lenora, Mrs. Lillian Burdick and Ira G. Riley, all residents of Postville.

The family have been residents of Postville for the past thirty-six years. Mrs. Riley was of a very social nature, possessed of numerous good qualities of head and heart, and her passing will be regretted by many friends.

Following a long period of failing health Mrs. Riley was taken to Postville Hospital about three weeks ago, and during the early hours of last Sunday evening her wearied spirit took its flight. She was aged 78 years, 3 months and 22 days.

The funeral was held from her late home at 2:30 on Wednesday afternoon, the Rev. L. W. Wiltberger officiating. Interment in Postville cemetery.
