Word reaches us just shortly before going to press that Eugene Read, a long time resident of the Forest Mills neighborhood, in Post township, passed away in the early hours of Wednesday morning after a few days illness from pneumonia. He was one of the best known residents of this section and was in the neighborhood of 68 years of age. We are without further particulars at this writing, but hope to have a suitable obituary for publication next week.

The funeral will probably be held on Friday of this week at Evergreen School House and interment will be made in Carithers cemetery.

Eugene A. Read was born in Franklin township, Allamakee Co., Iowa, May 27, 1852, and died November 23, 1920, at the farm where he was born and spent the greater part of his life. At the time of death he had reached the age of 68 years, five months and 24 days.

He was married to Myrtle Cutshaw, February 14, 1891, and leaves his wife and three daughters to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and indulgent father. Besides the children now living- Violet, Rosamond and Opal - one child, Luverne, died in infancy.

Mr. Read was known as an upright and honest man by all who have known him.

Besides his wife and children he leaves a host of friends and neighbors to regret his loss.

The funeral was held from the late home and Forest Mills church last Friday at eleven o'clock a.m., conducted by Rev. E. Schmidt of this city. Interment was made in the Carithers cemetery.
