Johann Joachim Carl Timmerman was born August 26, 1854, in Grebs, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany. He came to this country in the year 1882, arriving in Farmersburg, August 1st of that year. Here he was married on April 4, 1884. to Minnie Meyer. To this union four children were born, two sons and two daughters. The family lived near Farmersburg for about 12 years. They then moved on a farm east of Castalia, where they resided for thirty years. In the year 1922 he retired and moved to Postville.

After a lingering illness of over two years duration he passed away at his residence in this city on Sunday, July 23, at five p.m., aged 78 years, 10 months and 27 days.

He is survived by his widow, Minnie Timmerman, and four children, viz: Alma at home, William at Castalia, Mrs. Clara Sphar at Castalia, and Arno on the home farm. There are also five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held fro St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city on Wednesday afternoon at two o'clock, the pastor, Dr. R. B. Garten, officiating. Interment was made in the Postville cemetery.
