Postville Herald, Thur., 4 March 1926.

Young Wife And Mother Is Called.

Seldom has an occasion arisen that elicited more expressions of regret and sympathy than has the death of Mrs. Lloyd Harris, who passed away last Sunday afternoon at Postville hospital, where she had been taken the day previous for observation and treatment. A post mortem examination, however, disclosed the cause of death as cancer of the liver.

Concerning the life of this estimable young woman, no finer tribute could be paid her than the following given expression to at the funeral by Rev. E. T. Finck:

Beloved friends, -- We have assembled to pay our tribute to the memory of one who in life was a dutiful daughter, a loving wife, a good neighbor and a warm friend. Those who knew her best loved her most, and those who knew her little loved her much.

Selma Grace Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Sheggrud of Frankville, was born in Frankville township, June 23, 1898, and died at Postville, February 28, 1926, at the age of 27 years, 8 months and 5 days. She was baptized in the Norweigan Lutheran Church of Washington Prairie in early infancy and in later years confessed her faith in Jeuss by the Rite of Confirmation in the same church.

Until the age of 12 years she attended the home school and afterward the Ossian Public School, Decorah High School and Fayette College, in preparation for the teaching profession. After completeing college she taught school at Moneek for 4 years and then near Ossian and in Frankville township. Her work was faithfully done and she was popular with both parents and pupils.

On August 22, 1923, she was married to Lloyd Harris of Postville. The young couple established their home on the Harris farm in Post township. Their union was blessed with one child, Zena Mae, about one and one half years old. She appeared to be in fairly good health even on Sunday morning last and neither she nor anyone else had the slightest anticipation that it was to be her last earthly Sabbath, but the Lord so willed.

The floral contributions, the vast throng of people, the tears -- all bear eloquent testimony of the high esteem in which she was held by all who knew her. We can hardly bring ourselves to a sense of realization that she has gone from us, but it is true, and the great soul has passed to the beyond, "from whence no traveler returns," but we are steadfast in the hope that she is "On the other side of Jordan, in the sweet fields of Eden, where the tree of lif is blooming."

She is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd Harris, her only daughter, Zena Mae: her sorrowing parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver T. Sheggrud, one sister Alice of Decorah, one brother Milton of Frankville, Mr. and Mrs. W. Harris, who dearly loved Grace, and a host of other relatives and friends who are awiting the reunion in the Father's house above.

The funeral was held from St. Paul's Lutheran church in this city Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock, conducted by Rev. E. T. Finck, Interment in the Postville cemetery.

Card of Thanks. -- We hereby extend our heartfelt thanks to the neighbors and friends, the Rebekahs and Odd Fellows, for their kindly assistance and comforting words during our recent great affliction, the loss of our beloved wife, mother and daughter; and also for the many beautiful floral offerings.

Lloyd Harris and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Sheggrud, Mr. and Mrs. Warner Harris.
