Lee Bowers, Popular Interstate Manager, Dies

Lee Bowers, manager of Interstate Power Company office in Postville for 31 years, died suddenly last Thursday morning. Services were conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church of Postville with the Rev. Charles E. Witt, pastor, officiating.

Mr. and Mrs. Bowers moved to Postville in 1924 and have lived here ever since with the exception of 2 years.

James Lee Bowers was born October 18, 1895 in Cresco, Iowa, the son of Walter and Ida (Heath) Bowers. He passed away in the early morning of August 22, 1957 at the age of 61.

He received his early education in the Cresco schools. He married Agnes Moen of Cresco on August 23, 1914. In March 1924 they moved to Postville, and have lived here since, with the exception of 2 years. Mr. Bowers had served 38 years with the Interstate Power Company on July 17 of this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Edward of Cresco, Joseph of Marengo and Gordon of Cresco, and one nephew.

He is survived by his wife, one brother, Glenn of Lanesboro, Minnesota, one sister, Mae Scofield of New Jersey, 5 nephews, 3 nieces, other relatives and many close friends.

Mr. Bowers was a member of First Lutheran Church, Cresco, where he had been baptized and confirmed.
