Teresa Kubitz, age 68, of rural New Albin, died Friday morning, July 4, 2003, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wis. Funeral services were held Monday, July 7 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in New Albin with Fr. Daniel Knipper officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in New Albin. Thornburg Hanson Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. Teresa was born December 15, 1934, in Marquette, Iowa, to James and Teresa (Hammell) Mitchell. On October 28, 1954, she married Richard "Dick" Kubitz at St. Joseph's Church in New Albin. The couple was involved in beef and dairy farming. Teresa was a very hard-working woman who loved her flower and vegetable gardening. She also wrote poetry and had two of her poems published. She also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Teresa is survived by six children, Debbie Kubitz of Ackley, Iowa, Terrie (Randy) Roth of Coldwater, Mich., Leon "Mike" (Lisa) Kubitz of Lansing, Lawrence "Joe" (Sandra) Kubitz of New Albin, Dawn (Mark) Tewes of Caledonia, Minn., and Lyndon (Wendy) Kubitz of New Albin; 17 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and eight siblings, Lorny (Lucille) Mitchell of New Albin, Mary Jo Colsch of Caledonia, Jerry "Buster" Mary Ann Mitchell of Alburnett, Iowa, Raymond (Carol) Mitchell of Minneapolis, Minn., David (Barb) Mitchell of New Albin, Esther (James) Benesh of Ely, Iowa, William "Bill" (Ginny) Mitchell of New Albin, and Earl (Donna) Mitchell of Marion, Iowa. Teresa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick in 2000; a granddaughter, Kimberly Mae Kubitz; and three brothers, Kenneth, James, and Peter Mitchell. Casketbearers were Lawrence, Raymond, David, Gerald, William, and Earl Mitchell. Honorary casketbearers were Mary Jo Colsch and Esther Benesh.
