Former Frankville Girl Passes In North Dakota.

Mrs. Ella M. Shippy, 58, Hope, N.D., prominent in North Dakota women's political and social circles for many years and wife of C. S. Shippy lawyer and former states attorney of Steele county, died in a Fargo hospital at 6:30 a.m., Sunday.

On Dec. 26, Mrs. Shippy contracted influenza, which later developed into pneumonia. She recovered from that illness, but three weeks ago suffered another attack and was brought to the hospital in Fargo.

Mrs. Shippy was a prominent worker in the Methodist church, of which she had been a member all her life, She was treasurer for two years of the state W.C.T.U. and also served one year as lecturer for that organization, gaining a wide reputation in this endeavor.

She played an important part in women's political activities and was a member of the "committee of 45" which organized the Independant Voters association in the state. She also was county chairman for women of the association in Steele county for three successive campaigns.

Mrs. Shippy was born in Gilberton, Pa., on Sept. 11, 1870, later moving to Iowa with her parents. She was educated in that state and taught school for several years. In 1891 she came to North Dakota, employed as a school teacher in Steele county. She was married on Dec. 16, 1895, at Hope, and had resided there ever since. Their only child died in infancy.

Surviving, besides her husband, are a brother, George Murray, 505 Ninth St. S., who was states attorney of Steele county for eight years and succeeded by Mr. Shippy, who served the subsequent eight years; another brother, Samuel Murray, New York City; and two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Jaquis of Corydon, Iowa; and Mrs. D. S. Greenen, Valley City, N.D.-- Fargo (N.D.) Forum, Monday, March 18, 1929.

The body was brought to Postville on Tuesday of this week and on Wednesday was taken to Frankville for interment.

Deceased will be best remembered by the older Postville people as Ella Murray, who at one time attended school in this city, where she was known to all as an exceptionally bright and charming girl who numbered her friends by her acquaintances.

She is a cousin of John and Col. Geo. waters of this city.
