Eva Louise Bareis (nee Engele) was born the 21st of November, 1845, at Butzenhof, Wirtemberg, Germany. March 2nd, 1879, she was united in marriage to George Bareis. This union was blessed with six children. On the 2nd day of May, 1882, they emigrated to America, living first in the neighborhood of Postville and later on several farms in Clayton county. She passed away on Christmas morning at nine o'clock at the family home 1 1/2 miles south of Postville, aged 75 years, one month and four days.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother. She was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid and all who knew her will hold her in loving rememberance.

She is survived by her husband and the following children: Fritz Bareis , Castalia; Willie Bareis, Clayton county; Henry Bareis, Cresco; Mrs. Louise Duwe, Clayton county; John Bareis, at home; Mrs. Caroline Knodt, St. Paul. also 13 grandchildren.

In this connection the family wish to express to the neighbors and friends their heartfelt thanks for the kindly deeds and comforting words during the latest illness and burial of their beloved wife and mother.
