Mrs. D. McNeill Passes Away. Funeral Services Were Held Here On Monday.

Mrs. Dan McNeill, Sr., a resident of this community since 1889, passed away at her home in this city last Friday after a lingering illness and funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Bridget's Catholic church the Rev. P. Hogan officiating. Interment was made in Postville cemetery.

She was born as Emma Molony, the daughter of Dennis Molony and Rosetta Christjohn, at Buffalo, New York, June 22, 1853, and was 85 years old at the time of her passing.

Together with her family Mrs. McNeill came to Iowa in 1856, locating first at Iowa City and a year later settling on a farm near Solon. Her mother passed away when she was 21 years old and left her to care for her brothers and sisters. She taught school for four years in that vicinity.

She was married to Dan McNeill at Cedar Rapids, February 24, 1889, and the couple came to live on the farm at Grand Meadow township, moving to Postville in 1903, and this has been their home ever since.

She is survived by her husband, a son, Dr. James McNeil of Chicago; a daughter, Rose McNeil, of this city; one son passing away in infancy. Also surviving are three step-sons, Ed., Dan and John McNeil of this community; two step-daughters, Mae McNeil of this city, and Mrs. Elizabeth Hurley of Elkader; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Mackey of west Branch, and Mrs. John Skay of Iowa City; one brother, George Molony of Iowa City; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers at the funeral were Frank Fay of Clermont, Tim Foley, J. T. Humphry, H. V. Steele, R. B. Waters, and W. J. Clark.

The sympathy of all goes out to the bereaved family.

The relatives from out of town here for the funeral services included; Mrs. John Skay, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. John Skay, Jr., and family, Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. George Molony, Cedar Rapids; Dr. James G. McNeil, Mr. and Mrs. Tim Molony, Chicago; Mrs. Katherine Scully and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Finley, Mrs. John Hurley and Mrs. Finley, Sr., Volga City; Mr. and Mrs. M. R. Hurley and family, Elkader; and Mrs P. J. Cooney of New Hampton.
