AMELIA SCHROEDER 1887-1959

Amelia Schroeder, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Schroeder, was born in Clayton county, Grand Meadow township, on May 30, 1887. She was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on October 30, 1887 and was confirmed on March 31, 1901.

Amelia Schroeder attended the rural schools in Grand Meadow township in the Postville community, and later was engaged in designing in millinery and as a saleslady in ready-to-wear at Cedar Rapids. She and her sister, Louise, have made their home together in Cedar Rapids since 1933.

She had been hospitalized in St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids for observation, following a brief illness, and entered the University Hospital in Iowa City on August 23, 1959. She underwent surgery on August 31, 1959 at the University Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Mrs. W. A. Meyer, Castalia and Mrs. Carl Welzel, Postville; and an infant brother.

She is survived by one brother, John A. Schroeder of Postville, and three sisters, Mrs. E. H. Knodt, Rosemount, Minnesota, Mrs. Albert Gulsvig, Postville and Louise Schroeder, Cedar Rapids.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids.

Funeral services were conducted in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Postville on September 7 at 2:00, p.m. with the pastor, the Reverend Charles E. Witt, officiating. Burial was in the Postville cemetery.
