Funeral services for Marlin Gilman Hanson, age 81, of Waukon, Iowa were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 31 at the Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Richard Eick and the Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Clifford Dee, Robert Hanson, Bill Steffenson, Dale Kiesau, Ed Wikan, and Donny Vine. Honorary pallbearers were Deryl Larson, Arlando Anderson, Jack Marsden, Karl Bechtel, and Norman Hanson.

Marlin Gilman Hanson, son of Albert and Cora (Anderson) Hanson, was born September 15, 1916 on his parent's farm in rural Waukon, Iowa. Marlin attended "Elk" and "Fan" rural schools. On June 8, 1948 he married Elsie Kiesau at Salem United Church of Christ. Before moving to Waukon, Iowa in 1991, Marlin farmed in Makee Township all his life. He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ since the 1950's.

In June 1997, he moved to the Good Samaritan Center where he died Wednesday, January 28, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and a granddaughter.

Marlin is survived by his son, Curt (Judie) Hanson, a sister, Hazel (Clarence) Dee, all of Waukon, Iowa, and 6 grandchildren.
