Memorial services for Earl Walter Nevermann, age 77, of Waukon, Iowa were held Thursday at 6 p.m., April 24 at Martin Funeral Home in Waukon. Honorary bearers were his grandchildren Matthew Nevermann, Timothy Nevermann, Adam Nevermann, Amy Nevermann, and Andrew Nevermann.

Earl Walter Nevermann, son of Lester and Velma (Brandt) Nevermann, was born April 30, 1919 on the rural Postville farm of his parents. He attended rural Winneshiek County schools. On November 24, 1938 he married Bernice Fiet. From 1943-1945 he served in the United States Navy. He worked at many jobs including being street corrdinator for the city of Waukon, salesman for Stor-Mor grain bins, road construction, truck driver, and operated a Case Machinery dealership, a service station and a welding shop in Waukon, Iowa. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Earl Walter Nevermann died Saturday, April 19, 1997 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Leo Nevermann, two step-sisters, and a step-brother.

Earl is survived by his wife, Bernice of Denver, Colorado; 2 sons, Leslie (Faye) Nevermann of Waukon, Iowa and Leland Nevermann of Denver, Colorado; 5 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Ardis Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Wanda Anderson of Waukon, Iowa; 2 brothers, Maurice (Myrle) Nevermann of Watertown, Wisconsin and Claire (LouDene) Nevermann of Jesup, Iowa; 6 step-brothers and 3 step-sisters.
