Funeral services for Gordon Raymond Sivesind, age 62, of Waukon, Iowa, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 31 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Waukon, Iowa, with the Rev. Lynn Groe officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Wayne Thomas, Cliff Christianson, Dale Halverson, Carsey Hovden, Allen Goeke, Donny Vine, Steve Benzing, Steve Henning, Virgil Opfer, Les Nevermann, Darwin Melcher, Joel Conderman, Richard Nelson, Dan Hovden, and Charlie Welch.

Gordon Raymond Sivesind, son of John A. and Olive (Tolander) Sivesind, was born September 22, 1935 in Waukon, Iowa. He attended the rural Helming School, Waukon High School, and graduated from Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. On June 2, 1956 he married Donna Harms at St. John's Lutheran Church. Gordon worked as a DHIA supervisor from 1955-1966, and in 1966 began working all over the country as a cattle groomer. In 1972 he started working as a maintenance supervisor and ambulance driver for Winneshiek County Memorial Hospital in Decorah, Iowa. He retired in 1990. Gordon and Donna also operated a tent rental business out of their home in Waukon, Iowa. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Iowa State Holstein Association, and was formerly active in 4-H.

Gordon Raymond Sivesind died Monday, January 26, 1998 at Thornton Manor Care Center in Lansing, Iowa following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his father, an infant brother, David Allen Sivesind, and infant sister, Delores Ann Sivesind, and a son-in-law, Robert Snitker.

Gordon is survived by his mother, Olive and his wife, Donna, both of Waukon, Iowa; 5 daughters, Debra (Ed) Espe, and Dianne (Mark) Cline, all of Decorah, Iowa; Gayle (Ron) Greene of Ft. Morgan, Colorado, Dorothy Snitker of Waukon, Iowa, and Dawn (John) Mickey of Castlewood, South Dakota; 2 sons, Gary (Helen) Sivesind of Gunbower, Australia, and Gregg Sivesind of Minneapolis, Minnesota; 8 grandchildren, Melissa Espe, Sara Espe, Samantha Espe, Ashley Greene, Zachary Greene, Shannon Cline, Darrin Cline, and Anna Sivesind; 2 brothers, Frank (Carol) Sivesind of Waukon, Iowa, and Gene (Jane) Sivesind of Decorah, Iowa; 4 sisters, Coreen (Kenneth) Troendle of Waukon, Iowa, Marian (T.Hans) Olson of Eau Clarie, Wisconsin, Alice (David) Terbeest of Canton, Minnesota, and Ann (James) Kvam of Charleston, South Carolina; and a foster brother, Richard (Geneva) Nelson of Decorah, Iowa.
