A private funeral service for Dorothy Hager Helming, age 96, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa was held at the Teahan Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.

Dorothy Hager Helming, daughter of Benjamin David and Winnifred (May) Helming, was born January 6, in Waukon, Iowa. She graduated from the Waukon High School and Cornell College. She earned a Masters Degree at Columbia University. She attended schools in Iowa, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. For 37 years she taught in the Iron Mountain, Michigan School District and various schools in Iowa for several years. She retired from teaching in 1964. She retired in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dorothy was a member of the American Association of University Women, Michigan Education Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers, League of Women Voters, Professional Women's Club, and Miriam Circle of Trinity Church.

Dorothy Hager Helming died Sunday, February 1, 1998 at Northbrook Manor Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Paul Hayward Helming, Benjamin David Helming II, Robert Bruce Helming, Frederic Simon Helming, and 2 sisters, Carolyn Elizabeth Helming, and Marian Helming.

Dorothy is survived by her brother John Albert Helming and his wife Anna of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, nieces and nephews.
