Rites For Mrs. Carlton Winters
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 24, at 2 p.m. at Martin Brothers funeral home for Mrs. Carlton Winters. The Rev. Curtis Webster was the officiating minister and burial was in Oakland cemetery. Pallbearers were Earl Lawson, Gaylord Moose, Edwin Winters, William Livingood, Milo Livingood and Leonard Miller.
Mrs. Winters, who had been in poor health for a year, died Thursday, January 21, in the Decorah hospital where she had been a patient for 12 days. She was born April 8, 1892 in Allamakee county and was a daughter of Edwin and Mathilda Peachea [should be Pechia] Livingood. She was educated in the local schools and lived in Allamakee county all of her life.
February 6, 1919 she married Carlton Winters in Waukon. He preceded her in death.
Survivors are five sons: Lynn, Waukon; Virgil, Castalia; Clinton and Delbert, Waterville; and Wesley of Luana and two daughters: Mrs. Richard (Doris) Clark of Waukon and Mrs. Wesley (Genevie) Rood of Cedar Rapids. Three sisters: Mrs. Nellie Winters, Postville; Mrs. Caroline Lawson, Caledonia, Minn.; and Mrs. Stella Moose of Waukon and two brothers: Lynn Livingood of Waukon and Willard Livingood of Postville, also survive.
