Funeral services for Clarence James Thomson, age 92, were held at the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa. Casket bearers were Richard Birdsell, Forest "Toey" Kelly, F. F. Schneider, James Burger, Curtis Piggott, and Lester Thomson. Honorary casketbearers were Paul Kilcher, Orville Ruckdaschel, Dr. Milton F. Kiesau, Paul Welzel, Craig Sexton, and Joe Sweeney. Schutte Funeral and Cremation Service of Postville assisted the family.

Clarence James Thomson, son of Albert B. Thomson and Anna Mathilda (Goettle) Thomson, was born May 15, 1908 in Waukon, Iowa. At the age of nine, he moved with his parents to a farm north of Luana, Iowa. He attended the rural school near his home and graduated from Postville High School in 1926. Clarence married Alice Lenora Swenson on December 4, 1930 in Mason City, Iowa. The couple farmed on the Swenson farm north of Postville, Iowa in the Frankville area. Clarence moved to an apartment in Postville, then moved to Monona in 1992. Clarence was known as a kind and gentle man to all his friends, relatives, and acquaintances. He was a good dancer and loved to attend the local dances whenever he could. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville, Iowa.

Clarence James Thomson died Monday, December 18, 2000 at Central Community Hospital in Elkader, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Alice; one brother, LeRoy Thomson and one sister, Irene (Arno) Bugenhagen.

He is survived by his very special friend and dance partner, Eunice Mae Halverson, of Monona, Iowa, who took care of him for almost ten years, a sister-in-law, Margaret Thomson, a niece, Bonnie Stell, and one nephew, LeRoy "Tom" Thomson, all of California.
