Funeral services for Genevieve Anne Scholtes, age 82, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and formerly of Lansing, Iowa, were held Monday, October 30, at Immaculate Conception Church, at Lansing, Iowa, under the direction of Father Daniel Knipper. Burial was in the Scholtes plot at Gethsemane Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa. Casketbearers were Dan Scholtes, William Scholtes, Tom Scholtes, Steve Scholtes, Frank Fisher, and Delbert J. Scholtes. Thornburg-Hanson Funeral Home of Lansing, Iowa assisted the family with the arrangements.

Genevieve Anne Scholtes, twin daughter of William Francis and Mary Clara (Bakewell) Scholtes, was born August 3, 1918 in Lansing, Iowa. Her twin brother was James Scholtes. She graduated from the Lansing High School Teachers Training Program, then taught in the Allamakee County rural schools for a few years. She completed her nursing degree at St. Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota. For five years, she served as an operating room nurse at University of Minnesota Hospitals, Minneapolis, Minnesota. For 25 years, she was supervisor of all operating rooms at the U of M Hospital, assisting in numerous surgeries. Later, she worked as a nurse in the School of Dentistry Periodontology Department, University of Minnesota. She retired and moved to LaCrosse in April 1996.

Genevieve Anne Scholtes died Friday, October 27, 2000 at Saint Joseph's Care Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin brother, James Scholtes, and another brother, John Scholtes.

Genevieve is survived by one sister, Mary Cleta Scholtes, and several nieces, nephews, and their children.
