Funeral services for Margaret P. Aliesch, age 82, were held at 11 a.m. services were conducted by Father Herbert Tegeler at Immaculate Conception Church in Lansing, Iowa in Lansing, Iowa. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery with Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Ray Callahan, Ralph Callahan, Jerry Mathis, Gus Kerndt, Franklin "Doc" Weymiller and Leo Garrin.

Margaret, daughter of Otto John and Francis E.(Callahan) Wurtzel, was born August 28, 1914 in Allamakee County, Iowa. After graduating from Immaculate Conception High School in Lansing, she attended St. Francis School of Nursing in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, graduating in 1935. Margaret was a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin and later at Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. In 1938, Margaret married Joseph Aliesch at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paint Rock, in Allamakee County, Iowa. They lived in the Thompson's Corner area and later retired to Lansing, Iowa. Joseph died in March of 1982.

Margaret P. Aliesch died Monday, May 19, 1997 at Thornton Manor in Lansing, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Patrick Wurtzel, and a grandson.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mary Greenleaf of Ephrata, Washington, and Cathy Aliesch of Boston, Massachusetts; 1 son, Michael "Mike" Aliesch of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; and 5 grandchildren.
