Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services for Alice M. Bulman, age 78, of Waukon, Iowa were held Saturday, March 2, 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church at Waukon, Iowa. Rev. Larry Olson officiated. Interment was in Oakland Cemetery, Waukon, Iowa. Martin Funeral Home of Waukon was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were David Flage, Robert Curtin, Kenneth Peake, Larry Schellhammer, Russ Hagen, and Claude Schafer. Honorary pallbearers were Chuck Pettingill, Robert Hartley, Dan Schoffelman, Thomas Gaertner, Walter Hagen, Aaron Sperduto, Karin Gaertner, Joe Bresnahan, Tom Schoffelman, Timothy Sperduto, and Sharon Foote.
Alice Marie, daughter of Arthur and Esther (Snitker) Brandt, was born January 20, 1913 on her parent's farm near Frankville, Iowa in Winneshiek County. She was baptized at Zalmona Presbyterian Church, rural Waukon, Iowa and confirmed at Frankville Presbyterian Church. She attended grade school, two years of high school at Frankville High School and graduated from the Postville High School. She taught at the rural "McKay School" near Frankville for 3 years prior to her marriage. On April 25, 1934 she married Donald F. Bulman at her parent's farmhouse. They farmed in McKee Township until moving to Waukon in 1946. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, Iowa where she was active in the music program. She was currently an Elder, started the Junior Choir, was a former Sunday School Superintendent and teacher as well as several other offices. She also belonged to the VOV Club.
Alice Marie Bulman died February 27, 1991 at the Good Samaritan Center in Waukon, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Donald of Waukon, Iowa; 3 daughters, Shirley (Lester) Schoffelman of Mitchell, South Dakota, Norma (Gerhard) Gaertner of Ankara, Turkey, and Mary (Ted) Sperduto of Wausau, Wisconsin; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and 2 sisters, Marion (Lester) Laterman of Frankville, Iowa and Jean (W.H.) Sinning of Corning, Iowa.
