A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 17 for Grace A. (Sweet) Moe, age 90, former Waukon, Iowa resident, now of West Lafayette, Indiana. The 11 a.m. services will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Waukon, Iowa.

Grace A. Sweet was born August 20, 1908 in Atkinson, Maine. Her mother died when she was very young and Grace was raised by her maternal grandmother. Grace graduated from high school in Redfield, South Dakota. She received a bachelor's degree from Park College in Parkville, Missouri. She taught school in Elgin, Iowa and Waterville, Iowa where she met Olvin J. Moe. They were married June 8, 1933 in Belle Plaine, Kansas. They made their home in Waukon, Iowa where Olvin had a Chevrolet franchise. Olvin "O.J." died April 25, 1950.

Grace lived most of her life in Waukon, Iowa where she served on the school board and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Eastern Star, and PEO Sisterhood. She died November 11, 1998 at Westminster Health Center in West Lafayette, Indiana. She is survived by 2 children, Janice (Frank) Clikeman of West Lafayette, Indiana and Calvin (Sheila) Moe of Nevis, Minnesota; 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Arline Koester of Glenwood, Illinois and a brother George Sweet of Green Valley, Arizona.

NOTE: The obituary did not state that she was buried in Waukon but it can be supposed that she was brought back to Waukon for burial in April since her husband, Olvin J. is in the Oakland Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa. He was born May 25, 1891 and died April 25, 1950 according to the Woodmansee Records.
