Funeral services for Francis B. Kurt, age 88, of Waukon, Iowa were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 9 at Martin Funeral Chapel with Ed Lechtenberg. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ryan Petersen, Joe O'Hollearn, David O'Hollearn, Tom O'Hollearn, Danny O'Hollearn, and Kevin Polk.

Francis was born January 17, 1903 in Dubuque, Iowa to Frank and Susan (Weineke) Kurt. He attended Audubon School and Bayless Business College in Dubuque, Iowa. On October 7, 1924 he and Helen R. Kimmich were married at the Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque, Iowa. He grew up and worked in Dubuque until 1933. They moved to Waukon, Iowa where he worked until 1960. From 1960 to 1968 he worked in Marquette, Iowa. Francis was a railway station clerk, and was a Boy Scout and a member of the YMCA in Dubuque when he was a boy.

Francis died Tuesday, May 7, 1991 at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Helen who died September 20, 1989; a daughter, Marilynn Clarke who died in 1970 and a sister, Vivian White.

Francis is survived by 3 sons, Francis R. Kurt of Waukon, Iowa, Crispin Kurt of Slinger, Wisconsin, and John Kurt of Dade City, Florida; 2 daughters, Susan (Charles) O'Hollearn of Des Moines, Iowa and Geraldine (William) Connor of Waukon, Iowa; 17 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
