Bernard "Butch" Johnson

Bernard (Butch) Johnson, 57, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Waukon, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 24 after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. A memorial service was held Friday, May 27.
Butch will be remembered for his big smile and for being there whenever anyone needed help. He had a very big, generous heart. He loved the outdoors, camping, fishing, golfing, hunting, and going for long boat rides. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Atlanta Braves fan. But most of all, he will be remembered for how much he loved being around his family and friends.
Butch was employed with Cargill for 37 years and a member of the Teamsters Union. He graduated from Waukon High School in 1972.
Butch is survived by his wife, Vicki, of Cedar Rapids; two daughters; four step-children; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Martin and Brenda A'Hearn of Waukon; two nephews; one niece; aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Gladys (Vickery) Johnson; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd Martin. Butch will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
