Warren G. Leyde, age 81, of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and former resident of Lansing, Iowa, died on Wednesday, August 21, 2002 at Bethany Riverside Care Center. A private funeral mass was held at Mary Mother of the Church Parish at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. The Blaschke Funeral Homes of LaCrosse, Wisconsin helped with the arrangements.

Warren was born March 4, 1921 to Charles and Aagot Leyde of St. Paul, Minnesota. He married Arline Habisch 60 years ago in San Francisco, California. They spent many happy years together in their home on the river in Lansing, Iowa where he was a long-time employee of Interstate Power Company. Warren enjoyed golfing, gardening, and was an avid sports fan. He was a United States Naval Veteran. He was a quiet, gentle man with a generous heart and loving spirit that never ceased giving. He was especially proud of his daughters and their families. He instilled in us all valuable life lessons that will never be forgotten. Though Warren will be sadly missed, memories of him will remain in our hearts forever.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arline; a brother Chuck Leyde and 2 sisters, Jane and Helen.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Michele (Patrick) Hartley of Portage, Wisconsin and Cheryl (Don) Walsh of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Anna Marie Fitzenberger of Spicer, Minnesota.
