Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist church, Marion, for Arthur E. Hilmer, 75, of Marion who died Thursday, following a long illness. Formerly of Postville, he had been a Marion resident for 31 years.

Born May 18, 1898 at Waukon, he was married to Edna Hesse January 17, 1918 at Waukon. He was employed by the Milwaukee railroad for many years and did janitorial work in the Cedar Rapids-Marion area.

Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Alice Johnson of Quasqueton; Adeline Rompot of Cedar Rapids; Gladys Main of Rowley; Mae Gatto of Cedar Rapids; five sons, Eldo Hilmer and Walter Hilmer of Marion; Reuben Hilmer of Bussey; Ralph Hilmer of Phoenix, Arizona; Marvin Hilmer, Cincinnati, Ohio; a brother Albert Hilmer, Postville; 35 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Burial was in Cedar Memorial Cemetery.
