Funeral Services for Mrs. Albert Hilmer
Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Hilmer were held in the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, Thursday, February 20 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dick Harberts officiating. Mrs. Hilmer died suddenly Monday morning, February 17 at her home.
Ethel C. Flage was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Flage. She was born September 23, 1899 in Ludlow township, Allamakee county. Her early life was spent in Ludlow township where she received her education in rural schools.
She was united in marriage to Albert Hilmer on June 23, 1916, in the home of her parents. To this union seven children were born. They lived on a farm in Ludlow township for about 14 years, then moved to her parents' farm for two years before moving to Postville.
Mrs. Hilmer was a member of the Senior Citizens of Postville and was involved in much work in the church through the women's association and circles. She and her husband began janitor work in the church in 1969. Mrs. Hilmer became a member of the Community Presbyterian church, Postville, on July 1, 1951.
Preceding her in death were her parents Mr. and Mrs. John Flage and a daughter Mrs. Bernice Jones.
Survivors include her husband; six children: Edwin of San Diego, California; Wayne of Dayton, Ohio; Mrs. Luverne (Irene) Hangartner of Elkhart, Indiana; Martin and Arlo of Denver, Colorado and Dennis of Waterloo; also, three brothers: Harvey and Ed Flage of Waukon and Alvin Flage of Aroda, Virginia; three sisters: Mrs. Gus (Edna) Herman of Waukon; Mrs. Everett (Lura) Palmer of Harpers Ferry and Mrs. Chris (Mary) Reinhardt of St. Paul, Minnesota. There are nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Interment was in the Postville cemetery.
