Norman O. Severide, age 79, of Lansing, Iowa, died Saturday, July 18, 1987 in his home. Funeral services were held Monday, July 20 at 1 p.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Lansing, Iowa. Pastor Luther Larson of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sparta, Wisconsin officiated. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lansing, Iowa. Pallbearers were grandsons Gary and Scott Severide, Dennis and Larry Hill and Bruce and Roger Pierce. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home, Lansing, Iowa was in charge of arrangements.

Norman was born July 21, 1907 in Winneshiek County, Iowa to Ole and Tilla (Fadness) Severide. He was baptized and confirmed in the Big Canoe Lutheran Church. He married Christine Flatberg on January 11, 1927. She died in December of 1976. He was a farmer. He also worked for many years for the city of Lansing, Iowa.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Opal and Florence; a grandson Jeffrey and a brother Lester Severide.

Norman is survived by 2 sons, Norton Severide and Harold Severide, both of Roscoe, Illinois; a daughter Bonnie Olson of Sparta, Wisconsin; 23 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; 2 sisters, Alice Foss of Decorah, Iowa and Idella Flatberg of Vinton, Iowa.
