Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 29 at 2:30 p.m. for Malinda L. Halvorson, age 80, of rural Waukon, Iowa. the Rev. Henry Heinbuch will officiate at the services which will be held at Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, Iowa. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Martin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Serving as pallbearers will be George Decker, David Meyer, Chuck Bloxham, Walter Iverson, Robert Dunning, and Armin Wuennecke.
Malinda died Saturday, September 26, 1987 in Veterans Memorial Hospital in Waukon, Iowa. She was born March 12, 1907 in Union City Township, Allamakee County, Iowa to Otto and Emma (Haar) Brinker. She attended rural schools in Allamakee County. On February 14, 1935 she married Harry Halvorson in Eitzen, Minnesota. She was a lifetime area resident, helped out on the family farm and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ. She belonged to various women's church groups.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Harry who died February 1, 1981 and a brother Elmer Brinker.
Survivors include two sons, Vernon Halvorson of Meriden, Connecticut, and Walter Halvorson of Waukon, Iowa; a daughter Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Sandry of Lansing, Iowa; 2 sisters, Frances Meiners of Caledonia, Minnesota and Mrs. Leo (Marie) Wiemerslage of New Albin, Iowa.
