Two Dead Near Lansing
John Leppert, 45, and his nine-year-old daughter are dead and much property in the vicinity of Lansing, Iowa, was damaged as the result of the tornado. The storm struck the town yesterday afternoon shortly after 5 o'clock.
Leppert is a farmer who resided about seven miles southwest of Lansing and he was found pinned under the wreck of his house with the body of his nine-year-old daughter in his arms. His wife and four children were not at home at the time. The storm came so quickly that there was no time to seek refuge but Leppert was evidently trying to get away from it and save his daughter when his home was destroyed. All the buildings on the farm, which is a large one, were destroyed.
