Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Lydia A. DeBuhr, age 86, died Saturday, June 21, 1986 at the Aase Haugen Home in Decorah, Iowa. Services were held Tuesday, June 24 at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, Iowa with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Burial was in the Salem Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Bill Tieskotter, Jack Whalen, Howard Snitker, Ronald Hesse, Donald Vonderohe, and Ronald Vonderhohe.
Lydia was born September 12, 1899 in Dale, Wisconsin to William and Martha (Zeppuel) Zenk. She attended Milwaukee Normal School. She married the Rev. Edmond DeBuhr on August 3, 1920 in Campbellsport, Wisconsin. He had served as pastor of the Salem United Church of Christ in Waukon, Iowa and St. John's United Church of Christ in New Albin, Iowa. She was very active in many church activities where her husband served as pastor. She was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Waukon, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a grandson, four brothers, Clemens Zenk, Adolph Zenk, Erich Zenk, and Guido Zenk, and two sisters, Esther and Gertrude.
Survivors include a son Calvin DeBuhr of Coon Valley, Wisconsin and a daughter Ethel Ellingson of Indianola, Iowa; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a brother Jerome Zenk of West Bend, Wisconsin and two sisters, Tehekle Rohledar of East Troy, Wisconsin and Olga Baumer of West Bend, Wisconsin.
