Bernette J. Opheim, age 51, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa died Sunday, June 8, 1986 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids. Services were held Wednesday June 11 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids with the Rev. Roland Hischke officiating. Burial was in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery with Turner Chapel West in charge of arrangements.

Bernette was born May 21, 1935 in Waukon, Iowa to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zupke. She graduated from the Waukon High School. She married Gordon Opheim on November 21, 1953 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Waukon, Iowa. They were divorced. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. She was employed as a seamstress for a fabric shop in Cedar Rapids and was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and Mercy Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Doris, in infancy.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Janelle Miller and two sons, Kevin Opheim and David Opheim, all of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; 3 grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Shirley Crawford of Seattle, Washington and Delores Spiegler of Waukon, Iowa and a brother, Donald Zupke of Marion, Iowa.
