Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 15 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Waukon, Iowa for Charles J. Farley, age 91, of Waukon, who died January 13, 1986 at Northgate Care Center in Waukon. Rev. Larry Larry Duenas officiated at the services and at the burial in St. John the Baptist Church cemetery at West Ridge, Allamakee County, Iowa. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were his 6 grandsons.

Charles was born January 29, 1894 on West Ridge in Allamakee County, the son of William and Mary (Cunningham) Farley. He attended local schools and St. John's at Collegeville, Minnesota to become a wireless telegraphy operator. He served in the Army in Europe in World War I. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a farmer. He and Catherine Ward were married on September 5, 1923 at St. Mary's Church in Hanover. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John Farley, a daughter Marie, a brother Leonard Farley and a sister Mae.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine; 2 sons, Bill Farley and Paul Farley; and a daughter, Lorraine, Mrs. Edward Lueken; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; a brother Emmet Farley and a sister Florence.
