Funeral services were held Monday, July 20 at 1 p.m. for Eric Albert Halverson, age 19, of Waukon, Iowa, who died Saturday, July 18, 1987 in a car accident near Dorchester, Iowa. The Rev. Lynn Groe officiated at the services held in St. John's Lutheran Church with burial in Mt. Sterling, Wisconsin. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Scott Jenkins, Jeff Mentzer, Teddy Snitker, Tom Feller, Dick Reiser, John Elliott, Mike Sawyer, Regi Burke, Greg Fink, Larry Farley, and Jim Zahn.

Eric was born January 17, 1968 in Oelwein, Iowa to Harold and Margaret (Iverson) Halverson. The family lived in Wadena, Iowa before moving to Waukon, Iowa when he was eight years old. He was a 1986 graduate of Waukon Senior High School where he was a member of the football, basketball, and track teams. He also played on softball teams in the summer. He liked to play golf and hunt. He had just completed his freshman year at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was a member of St. John's Church.

He was preceded in death by his brother Wayne who died in infancy. He is survived by his parents; 2 brothers, Greg Halverson of Ogden, Utah and Mark Halverson at home; 3 sisters, Mrs. Scott (Cindy) Butikofer of Cresco, Iowa and Margie Halverson and Mrs. Russell (Mary Jo) Meyer, both of Waukon, Iowa; and his grandfather, Martin Iverson of Soldier's Grove, Wisconsin.
