Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Waukon resident Lloyd R. Monroe, age 77, died Thursday, August 22, 1985 at his home. Monroe was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church where funeral services were held Saturday morning, August 24. The Rev. Larry Duenas cnducted the 10:30 a.m. services with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Goltz, Lloyd Vine, Pat Donovan, Robert Curtin, John Monroe, and Bill Monroe. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Lloyd was a creamery operator and retired farmer. He was born in Allamakee County on August 4, 1908, the son of Glen and Kathryn (Ward) Monroe. He attended local schools and married Jeanette Cassidy March 4, 1930 in this county.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette who died in December of 1981 and his sisters, Viola and Mabel.
He is survived by his son Thomas Monroe of St. Cloud, Minnesota; 3 grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Leo Monroe of Waukon, Iowa, Thomas Monroe of Waterville, Iowa, Mrs. Harold (Florence) Kaeser of Columbus, Ohio, Mrs. Melvin (LaVon) Steffenson of Waukon, Iowa, and Mrs. Harlan (Esther) Hill of Hemet, California. *See Thomas Monroe obituary for additional names of siblings.*
