Frank Wagner, formerly of Waukon, Iowa, died Saturday, September 14, 1985 in Marion, Iowa following a long illness. He was 79 years of age. The deceased was cremated with burial in Mt. Olivet cemetery in Waukon, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Kerndt Monument of Waukon, Iowa for a monument.

He was born in Dubuque, Iowa on June 18, 1906 to Peter and Katie Wagner. He lived in Waukon, Iowa for over 25 years before moving to Marion, Iowa where he worked for the Wilson Packing Company.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecilia Duffy and a son Frankie Wagner, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Luella (Gunther) Wagner; 2 brothers, Harvey Wagner of Waukon, Iowa and Harold Wagner of Swisher; and 2 sisters, Martha Wachter of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Viola Kramer of Shueyville, Iowa.

RESEARCHERS OF THE WAGNER FAMILY TAKE NOTE:

Evidently when the obituary (that I posted above) was in error. On September 24, 1985 another obituary for Frank Wagner appeared in the Waukon newspaper. It does not say anything about it being "corrected". However, if one reads the first obituary, it stated that his first wife had preceded him in death. In this obituary, his first wife is listed as a survivor and she also attended his funeral. This is what was printed in the September 24, 1985 issue:

Frank Wagner, formerly of the Waukon area died Saturday September 14, 1985 in Marion, Iowa following a long illness. He was 79 years of age.

Born in Dubuque on June 18, 1906, he was the son of Peter and Katherine "Katie" Wagner. He lived in Waukon for more than 25 years before moving to Marion. He was employed at Wilson's until his retirement.

Services were held September 19 by Rev. Albert V. Manternnach at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Waukon, Iowa. Attending the service were Cecilia (Duffy) Mitchell, Viola Kramer of Shueyville, Rick and Joann Watters of Evansdale, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Wagner of Waukon, and Elevin Picha, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Becwar, Mr. and Mrs. John Wachter, Mr. and Mrs. Marvel Wallin, Pat Hallberg, Darci Jones, and Jim and John Wagner, all of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his first wife, Cecelia (Duffy) Mitchell; his second wife Luella Gunther; sisters Martha Wachter of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin and Viola Kramer of Shueyville, Iowa; brothers Harvey Wagner of Waukon, Iowa and Harold Wagner of Swisher, Iowa and step-children.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, Art Wagner, Lawrence Wagner, Ted Wagner, Henrietta Burlingame, and Olive Meisner and a son, Frankie Wagner, Jr.
