Waukon resident Mary Howe, age 83, died Wednesday, October 30, 1985 in Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's Church Saturday, November 2 at 12:30 p.m. with the Rev. Albert Manternach officiating. Burial was in St. Mary's Lycurgus Church cemetery. Hanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were LeRoy Ellenbolt, Harold Manning, James Troendle, Joseph Troendle, Leo McCormick, and Pat Curran.

Mrs. Howe was born in Allamakee County, Iowa on April 22, 1902, a daughter of Francis and Hannah (Haas) Troendle. She was educated in local schools and married Michael Howe in Lansing, Iowa on June 19, 1928. She lived in the Waukon and Lansing areas. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, the Foresters, St. Rita's Court, and St. Patrick's Rosary Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

She is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. Orville (Dorothy) Bratrud of Waterville, Iowa,Theresa Donahue of Waukon, Iowa, and Mrs. Robert (Rita) Jones of Janesville, Wisconsin; 2 sons, Robert Howe of Lansing, Iowa and George Howe of Monona, Iowa; 18 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Joseph Hurley of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and a brother William Troendle, Sr. of Lansing.
