Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Lifelong rural Harpers Ferry, Iowa resident Cleophus Nicholson, age 74, died Friday, October 24, 1986 at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Services were held Monday, October 27 at St. Pius Catholic Church, Cherry Mound, with the Rev. Don Hutchinson officiating. Burial was in St. Pius Cemetery with Hanson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Emmett McCormick, James Wachter, Roy Garin, Mike McGeough, William Moody, and Dale Mathis.
Cleophus was born October 2, 1912 in Harpers Ferry, Iowa to Edward and Catherine (Finnegan) Nicholson. He attended rural schools and married Bernadette Livingston on June 16, 1941 in St. Joseph's Church at Paint Rock. He was a farmer, a member of the Rosary Society, St. Pius Cherry Mound Church, Harpers Ferry Fire Department and the county election board.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by several cousins.
