Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Leland P. DeLong, age 70, of rural Ferryville, Wisconsin died Tuesday, July 5, 1988 at Bethany St. Joseph's Care Center in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday July 8 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lansing, Iowa. Father Herbert Tegeler and Father John Cassidy will conduct the service. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa. Burke-Thornburg Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Leo Monroe, Clari Wagner, Pat Keenan, Jim Sladhammer, Dick Johnson, Roger Gilman, and Rodney Boldstad.
Leland was born January 13, 1918 in Granite Rock Township, Redwood County, Wisconsin* The obituary did not list the names of his parents.* On September 30, 1941 he married Theodora Ferring. He was a farmer and worked for Northern Engraving in Lansing, Iowa for 10 years. He was a member of God's Country Good Sam Campers Club and Sacred Heart Church in DeSoto, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by two sons and a grandson.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sons, John DeLong of Lansing, Iowa and James DeLong of Stoddard, Wisconsin; 3 grandchildren; and 3 brothers, Melvin DeLong of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, Alvin DeLong of Bell Center, Wisconsin, and Steve DeLong of Rochester, Washington.
