Kathryn Goodell died Tuesday, June 28, at the age of 85. Funeral services were held Friday, July 1 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Waukon, Iowa, with Father Ed Lechtenberg officiating. Burial was in Gethsemane Cemetery, Lansing, Iowa with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were her grandchildren: Robert Russett, Jr., Tom Gander, Frank O'Neill, Randy Garin, Adam Nevermann, and Robert Gander.

Kathryn was born March 12, 1903 in New Albin, Iowa to John and Gertrude (Freilinger) Rouster. She married Frank F. Gander in May 1922 in New Albin, Iowa. He died June 14, 1960. On February 14, 1975 she married J. Merrill Goodell, he died October 7, 1981. She had been a resident of the Good Samaritan Center for six months and was a member of St.Patrick's Church, rosary society, VFW Auxiliary and Senior Citizens.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and George Rouster.

Surviving are seven children, Earl Gander of Waukon,Iowa, William Gander of Rochester, Minnesota, Lavina, Mrs. LaVerne Harvey of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Irene, Mrs. Robert O'Neill of Waukon, Iowa, Marcella, Mrs. Al Bender of Long Beach, California, Darlene, Mrs. Robert Russett of Waterloo, Iowa and Patricia, Mrs. Keith Garin of Lansing, Iowa; 33 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Hitchens of Tacoma, Washington.
