Death of Grandma Marsden

On Thanksgiving day at the home of Mrs. M Wittingler , her daughter occurred the death of Mrs. Marsden aged 94 years.

Her health had gradually failed her the past year and she was passed peacefully away to her eternal rest. Mrs. Marsden's birthplace was the County Donegal Ireland. She resided in the home of Galena Ill. And with her husband came to this county in the later ‘50’s. They built what is now known as the Troendal stone home on Lansing Ridge where they expanded a tavern for a number of years and are well remembered for their hospitality and good cheer in the earlier days of this county .Mr. Marsden died thirty years ago shortly after they removed to Waukon. Mrs Marsden is survived by her three daughters Mesdames Arnold, Cummings and Wittlingle r, and one son James all residents of this vicinity. Also a brother James Sweeney of this township. The funeral took place Sunday from St Patrick's church, interment being at Lycurgus at the side of her husband. Mr. and Mrs. Vickers of Edgerton Wisc . The latter a niece of the deceased, were in attendance at the funeral.
