Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Lifetime area resident Martin H. Nolting, age 79, of Waukon, Iowa died Friday, May 27, 1988 at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, Iowa. Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 31 at 11 a.m. at Zion United Church of Christ with the Rev. Henry Heinbuch officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery with Martin Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Emmett Nolting, Gary Nolting, Ron Nolting, Glenn Cooper, Allen Livingood, Todd Livingood, Greg Hansmeier, and Jan Nolting.
Martin was born August 25, 1908 in Waukon, Iowa to Herman and Lydia (Hager) Nolting. He graduated from Waukon High School and Cedar Rapids Business College. He was a self-taught attorney who practiced law in Waukon, Iowa for 50 years after being admitted to the bar June 9, 1938. On June 22, 1938 he married Ruth Hansmeier at her parents' farm home near Waukon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Otto Nolting.
Surviving are his wife, 4 sons, Milton Nolting of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Charles Nolting of Bettendorf, Iowa, Larry Nolting of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Roger Nolting of Davenport, Iowa; 2 daughters, Elizabeth, Mrs. Dale Livingood of Oelwein, Iowa and Nancy, Mrs. Steve Evans of Mt. Zion, Illinois; 12 grandchildren, a sister, Florence Cooper and 2 brothers, Ruben Nolting and Melvin Nolting, all of Waukon, Iowa.
