Contributor: Connie Ellis (Not related)Former Waukon, Iowa resident Ronald Rema, age 18, of West Union, Iowa died Wednesday, September 14, 1988 of injuries sustained in an auto accident near Caledonia, Minnesota. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 17 at Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church, rural Waterville, Iowa. The 1:30 p.m. services were conducted by Pastor Judd Larson and burial was in the church cemetery. Martin Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Richard, Rodney, Randy, and Russell Rema, Neil Dahlstrom, and Brian Ellefson.
Ronald was born January 4, 1970 in Waukon, Iowa to John and Florence (Grant) Rema. He attended Waukon area schools. He had lived in Waukon before moving to West Union, Iowa during the summer of 1988 to work for Matt Robbins Whitewashing Service. He was a former member of the AWANA club in Waukon and Old East Paint Creek Church.
Surviving are his father, John Rema of Waukon, Iowa; his mother, Florence Schultz of Lee's Summit, Missouri; maternal grandmother, Freda Grant of Waukon, Iowa; two sisters, Janet Garcia of Kansas City, Missouri and Jean Ann Fulmer of Independence, Missouri; four brothers, Richard Rema of Wadena, Iowa, Rodney Rema of West Union, Iowa, Randy Rema of Harpers Ferry, Iowa and Russell Rema of Waukon, Iowa.
