Funeral services for Ida Belle Hofer were held Tuesday, January 31 at 1:30 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, Postville, Iowa. Rev. Terrance P. Hennesy officiating. Interment was in Postville Cemetery. Schutte Funeral Service, Postville, Iowa was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Jim Lange, Kevin Lange, Bill Ross, Phillip Hofer, Cliff J. Olson, and Steve Kittelson. Honorary casket bearers were Page Wirkler, Rudy Hartwig, Everett Cook, Leo Foels, A.Burr Cook, and William Livingood.

Ida Belle Hofer, daughter of G.A. and Elizabeth (Wintrick) Brooks, was born June 26, 1904 in Allamakee County, Iowa. She died January 28, 1989 at Community Memorial Hospital, Postville, Iowa. She graduated from the Postville High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She taught many years in rural schools and in the Frankville, Castalia, Monona, and Postville Schools. On July 17, 1935 she married Laurence H. Hofer at the Manse of the Community Presbyterian Church. They made their home in Postville, Iowa. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Postville and a past member of Rebekah Lodge.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Laurence, who died July 26, 1988. She is survived by her sister, Bess Lange (Mrs. Wilson Lange) of Decorah, Iowa and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
